If you are a water person, your time has come! The sun is out, the ice has melted and those lakes and rivers you see on your morning commute ARE CALLING YOUR NAME!!! Load up your kayak, canoe or a friend and head to Gallup Park along the Huron River and Geddes Pond. If your personal watercraft does not extend beyond water wings, no worries. Gallup Park has canoes, kayaks and a bunch of brightly painted metal, pedal boats to rent. Would you prefer to look at the water rather than be on it? 69 acres await your walking shoes.
I stopped the other day when the temps happened to hit 60. The stroll felt even better the next day when the weather turned back to spitting rain and 40. I was in a bit of a time crunch so I made due with a 20 minute walk. Gallup Park is perfect for even a fast break from the world. You can park right next to the ashphalt walkways and disappear within a few minutes. Next time I plan to make a plan and spend the better part of the day letting the water call my name.
