Are you a plant nut? Do you start prowling around your yard looking for green noses pushing out of the ground and through the snow at first thaw? I do and so does Ruth. I met Ruth through my sister and I have been going back every year. Ruth has a beautiful garden full of rows and rows of Iris and Day Lilies among other things. It is like the promised land for bees. She opens to the public each year and sells her stock. She has been doing it for 30 years and at her peak she had 700 varieties of Iris. Now she is “down to” 500ish. It is an act of love.
Her Iris are in bloom right now …all 8-10 long rows of them. You go, wander around and fill-out an order sheet. Ruth and few helpers divide them up in a month or so after they finish blooming and she calls you to pick them up …right about the time all her day lilies are in bloom. Coincidence? I doubt it.
Ruth isn’t sure how many more years she will be doing it. Her fingers show the twists of time and she doesn’t wander around the property with you like she used to, but she does still love it and if business stays steady she’ll stick with it a bit longer.
If you have interest in stopping by Ruth’s Garden Sale, please shoot us an email and we will be happy to head you in the right direction. She is located on the north side of Brighton.
